As you read in my last post, I have decided to push my premiere line into S/S of 2011. I am currently rushing to source fabrics so I can receive them in plenty of time to plan. I don’t want to run into the same problems as I did before, when time was working against me.

Setup

I have narrowed my options down to ten fabrics and I’m crossing my fingers I’m not too affected by the increase of cotton prices.

Summer

My next step will be to finalize my accent fabrics and make sure I am incorporating key looks for the spring and summer seasons.

I know it’s a long ways from now, but what are you looking forward to most for S/S ’11 that you didn’t see this year? Fabrics? Colors? Textures? Please leave your comments below, I would love to hear what you have to say!

I'm most looking forward to buying your pieces for my boyfriend and have him not be dressed like every other man. It seems like too many clothes are cookie cutter pieces from other collections. I'd like to see you keep incorporating little touches that set your line apart from others.

Colors aren't as important to me as much as design but I'd love to see more charcoal/cream combinations and maybe some kelly green.

Good thinking pushing it back to next spring, Katie… honestly, I'd love to see more long sleeve seersucker shirts out there. It's kind of hard to come by a good LS seersucker shirt that fits well. Just my thoughts…

I'm with Paul on this. I had problems finding a seersucker long sleeve shirt. Brooks Brothers made one, but I was not able to grab it in the stores. I ended up picking up a short sleeve Ralph Lauren seersucker shirt that needs major alteration. It is going to the tailor this week!

Thanks for your input! I like that you mentioned silhouette is very important to you. I have worked so hard to make sure I am offering a new silhouette with details that you don't see often. As far as colors go, we will be offering a very sophisticated pallet with vibrant, primary colors as accents. I will be posting later on the colors that are expected to be seen on the runway and in stores for S/S '11.

You are the first to request a seersucker shirt. I think that is a great idea, and now that I think about it, I don't believe I have seen too many of those either. I appreciate your suggestion and I will definitely see if I can locate a good seersucker fabric and incorporate it in the line! My fingers are crossed!

Hopefully I can make you both proud! I like the idea of having a clean, classic piece in the line that you can't get anywhere else. I think it will be a great staple piece that can be paired easily with other articles!

Also, you won't have to spend a fortune in tailoring with our shirts :)

Awesome! I'll keep checking back for the shirt! Button down collar please?

Stumbled upon this through your interview on MTMNY. Disappointed to see that your launch has been delayed as there's really some interesting ideas here. I love the contrasting collar and placket trim. As you worked for JCrew, I'm sure you know how those details were hugely successful for them. A little contrast on a sleeve placket or inside the collar – I love that. It's subtle details like this that make a piece unique and stylish, without stepping too fashion fwd (i.e. scaring off many men). I could wear that to work or with a suit. I like how you're doing a lot of french cuffs on casual shirts. You made a contrast and club collar french cuff shirt look casual and effortless – WOW! Props to the EG for pulling off the look too.

Would you consider convertible cuffs? On nearly all my MTM shirts I opt for convertible cuffs so I can rock some links or colorful silk knots whenever I feel like it on a casual shirt. A single layer instead of a double french cuff also reduces the bulkiness of the sleeve which might make a shirt look more dressy.

I have always imagined my premier line launching in the F/W season, so I was sad to have to extend the date to S/S. The more I think about it, the better the decision sounds. I will be more prepared, my designs will be more thought out, and S/S is a great line to learn from so I can have an awesome F/W collection.

I'm glad you enjoy the details I have been putting into my pieces. It's so nice to hear positive feedback! I completely agree with you about not having in-your-face details. I want my clothes to be easy to pair with a suit, or attractive enough to stand alone. As far as convertible cuffs go, I have never considered using them. I will definitely look more into the idea of it though.

Thank you for sharing your comments and suggestions!
